πŸ’»Getting Started

Before you start, you'll need testnet ETH on the Sepolia network, connect your wallet, and switch networks.

1. Claim Sepolia ETH

The MAIV testnet will run on the Sepolia testnet. Like mainnet networks, making transactions on the Sepolia testnet requires gas in the form of ETH, but testnet ETH as opposed to ETH with real value. The MAIV faucet lets you acquire testnet MAIV and testnet USDT, but you must claim testnet ETH from an external faucet.

We recommend the Google Cloud for Web3 Faucet, shown in the screenshot below. You may use other faucets, but be wary of faucets which require you to connect your wallet. The Google Faucet linked here simply requires you to enter your wallet address to receive testnet ETH.

N.B. To receive testnet ETH from a faucet, you will usually be required to have a wallet balance of at least 0.001 ETH on the Ethereum mainnet to make a claim - this is to prevent spam.

2. Connect Your Wallet

The MAIV testnet using WalletConnect and thirdweb integrations to enable compatability with hundreds of different wallet types. In this guide, we're going to show you the most common way you'll be connecting, which is through MetaMask. However, you are free to use any supported wallet of your choice, and the experience should be similar.

Head to <testnet link coming soon> and connect your wallet by clicking 'Connect Your Wallet'.

3. Select the Sepolia Network

You'll see multiple wallet options. Connect the wallet you want to use. If you're not on the right network, you'll see the following warning message at the top of the interface letting you know you need to switch networks. Click 'Switch Network'. This will automatically switch you to the Sepolia network so you can use the testnet. Do NOT attempt to use the testnet on the Ethereum mainnet or any other network, you may lose funds.
